Few modern pop stars understand romance quite like Bruno Mars. On his latest album, The Romantic, Bruno switches up from his previous albums, delivering almost a best of collection of tracks with a new flaacor of latin-esc bangers.

Where 2016’s 24K Magic indulged in swagger, and 2021’s "An Evening with Silk Sonic" showcased his silky-smooth chemistry with Anderson .Paak, The Romantic is more inward-facing. The grooves are still immaculate, but they simmer rather than explode. Live strings, warm analog keys, and Steely Dan esc percussion give the album a vintage rock backbone, while subtle modern production keep it from feeling like a gimmick.
